Fall Athletics Information

Fall athletics are not currently scheduled for in-person participation. Opportunities to virtually participate in athletic programming are in development and will be shared by building principals in the fall.

Dear Parents and Guardians:

We hope this email finds you and your child excited for the start of the school year! As a reminder, the first day of Remote Learning is Monday, August 31, 2020, from 7:40 a.m. to 2:10 p.m.  Go Eagles!  Woooot Woooooot!

Here is some information for your review:

  • Technology and device distribution:
    • Please click-here for a letter the district’s technology department sent on August 20, 2020, regarding student devices and the device distribution schedule for Wednesday and Thursday.  
  • Take-Home Bags:
    • Many of our middle school resources, including our learning management systems, are electronic and are specific to students’ individual course schedules. However, there will be a need for tangible resources (e.g., novels, paints, etc.) while we are engaged in remote learning. At this time, we are still waiting for some ordered supplies to arrive. Once we have all of the materials received for distribution, we will share a pick-up schedule. In the meantime, please utilize this list for middle school supplies. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and understanding.  
  • Virtual Meet and Greets:
    • Today, you should have received an email from your child’s advisory teacher that provided you with the Zoom link for your virtual Meet and Greet on Friday, August 28, 2020.
    • Middle School North’s Virtual Meet and Greet times for August 28, 2020, are as follows:
      • 11:30 a.m. Sixth Grade
      • 12:00 p.m. Seventh Grade
      • 12:30 p.m. Eighth Grade
  • Looking Ahead:
    • On Thursday, August 27, 2020,  you will receive emails from staff regarding: 
      • Schedules with Zoom links 
      • Learning Management System (LMS) information
    • This will ensure everyone is ready to go on Monday!

Technology Letter to Parents

Dear Parents and Guardians of 6th, 7th, and 8th Grade Students:

As we prepare to begin school on August 31st, the Technology Department would like to provide some clarifying information regarding district-issued devices. It is our intent to provide all middle school students with a district-issued device this year.

Unfortunately, the district recently received news regarding the Chromebook order that was placedinearlyJune. ThesedeviceswillnotbearrivinguntilOctober,possiblylater.Duetothis delay, returning Hawthorn 7th and 8th grade students will continue to use the Chromebook that was issued to them during the 2019-2020 school year.

Course Selection Survey


After reviewing your student’s tentative schedule, please utilize this COURSE SELECTION SURVEY link to inquire about course requests. If you have more than one student, please fill out a separate course request form for each student. Please provide us with as much information as possible in order to help us review your request.

Once your request is submitted, either the Principal or Assistant Principal will follow-up to gain more information, if necessary, or respond to your request. All inquiries must be completed by Friday, August 21, 2020 .

PLEASE NOTE: due to the volume of requests we receive, as well as summer hours and programming, it may take several days to hear back from us. We appreciate your patience and will be in contact prior to the start of the year.
