Eighth grade students at Middle School North tested the velocity, acceleration, and power of their homemade boats in a contest on Tuesday. Each boat, comprised of household items such as string, pencils and styrofoam, was powered by a mousetrap. Students needed the boat to cover a distance of at least 1.5 meters in order to qualify. Students came up with creative ideas for the design of their boats. Even the Titanic was among the entries. Thankfully, there were no icebergs in sight.
